Tell us about yourself.

I recently celebrated my 39th birthday. I own a small business, Champ City Holistic Fitness. My fitness journey started not long after my mom passed away. I was at a painful point in life (there was a time period I didn’t know if I would see my 40th birthday) and knew I needed to make a change. The first day was hard, but I got through it. After repeating the process over and over, educating myself, and simultaneously focusing on my mental health, I was ready to share my journey.

I launched Champ City Holistic Fitness so I could take my learnings and use them to help others looking for a holistic approach to taking back their mental and physical health. The concept was a mobile gym at first – taking fitness to the front doors of people’s homes, parks, and businesses. It was going very well for about 4 months then, COVID. I doubled down on Instagram in March of 2020, providing home workouts and trying to share my experience the best I could. That turned into online coaching and now we have a world wide coaching business that is growing.

I will do anything I can to genuinely reach one person a day and show them that there is a better life. The power of a complete transformation physically, and more importantly, mentally – has no equal.

How do you look after your mental health?

Every morning I like to get up, leave my phone behind, and spend the first 10 minutes of my day outside meditating. Once my mind is clear I acknowledge the day ahead and what difficulties may arise, I imagine myself taking them on calmly. This practice helps me ground myself, reduce as much stress as possible, and get into a positive mindset for the day. Setting intentions in the morning has been the greatest habit I have created for myself and is a cornerstone of our practice.

Favorite form of self care?

I like to keep the mantra “Work Hard, Rest Hard” in the back of my mind. I make sure to prioritize a balanced holistic approach to physical health, mental health and life. That means giving my body rest when I need it, and taking time to enjoy the small but important moments in life. I particularly love cold immersion therapy. Sitting in 39 degree water and letting the negative thoughts float away while recovering my physical body.

What is your go-to feel-good workout?

I love a fast and furious 25 minute EMOM with some bodyweight movements and unilateral training. 

Who inspires you to become Your Best You?

My daughter. Almost every decision I make revolves around my little one. She’s a vivacious, silly, and smart kid. One thing I’ve learned from her is that kids are always watching us, even when we don’t realize it. I approach each day hoping to model a happy, balanced mindset for her. I want to make her life the best it can be. Being physically and mentally fit helps me be a better dad. 

If you could share one message with the LANE EIGHT community, what would it be?

It’s Never Too Late. It’s never too late to take back your health. Never too late to become the parent you’ve always wanted to be. Never too late to start your dream business or learn a new skill. Never too late to become the best version of yourself.
