March is Women’s History Month, and here at LANE EIGHT, we’re celebrating by featuring women from our community who inspire us. You might know some of them, you might not, but each of them has shown us what it means to be “Your Best You.”
With our #YourBestYou series, we’re sharing some of our favorite stories of perseverance, hope, and aspiration from the LANE EIGHT community of Everyday Athletes! For our latest feature we caught up with Rozana Atieh.
Tell us about yourself.
My name is Rozana, and you can kinda catch me doing anything and everything. By day, I’m a full-time Software Engineer, but by night, I’m a personal trainer. Sprinkle in a little bit of gaming, art, and cooking for a little razzle dazzle. I grew up as a lover of running. I’d race anyone I could. Because of that, I’ve always been relatively athletic, but I ended my athletic career once I got to college. That’s what pushed me to start going to the gym, but I really got serious about lifting only a couple of years ago. It’s still a newfound love for me, and I’m really looking to live a healthy, balanced, happy lifestyle, along with inspiring so many other girls to create the same type of lives for themselves.
Location: New Jersey, USA.
What does “Your Best You” mean to you?
To me, that means not being limited by societal expectations. To use my voice for those who can’t. Being my best self means living the life that I’m creating for myself, and not having doubts.
Name a woman in your life who has helped you become “Your Best You.”
Favorite female athlete?
Sanya Richards-Ross, Olympic Gold Medalist.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Don’t let people undervalue you. Know your worth, and let others know it as well.
If you could share one message with the LANE EIGHT community, what would it be?
We all have one life, so make it your own. Base your life upon your goals, and dreams, and you can accomplish so much. There will be things that try to knock you down, but that’s how we build ourselves back up and get stronger. Don’t let anyone stop you from creating the life that you want to live.
Favorite LANE EIGHT color?
THIS IS WHY I MISMATCH, because I love them all! If I had to pick…Lilac.
