Hi there, I’m Kellie! I’m 33, have been married to my awesome husband for 13 years, and I’m mom to a pretty cool kid! I’m originally from Utah, but hated the snow. Now I live in Texas! I love to read, watch silly movies that crack me up (because laughter is good for the soul), and spend time with my family. I am very optimistic and love to cheer on and encourage others to do hard things and not give up!

What does “Your Best You” mean to you?
That I am exactly who I need to be. There are so many people on social media these days, that it can be extremely hard not to get caught up in the comparison game. I have learned to embrace exactly who I am. I don’t need to look like anyone or do what anyone else is doing because who I am as is amazing!
How did you discover LANE EIGHT?
From my awesome coach Tara Laferrara. Just over a year ago I was in the market for new workout shoes and asked her what brand they were and then decided to give you all a try. Best shoe decision ever!
How have you dealt with what 2020 has thrown at you?
I have learned to take things day by day. I was so used to my routine and having things be easy or accessible. When the pandemic hit and everything pretty much shut down I had to learn to adapt and adjust. My routine shifted, and I created a new one. And if something comes up that isn’t planned I have learned to just take it one day a time.
How do you plan on taking on 2021?
By becoming the best me I can be! I am setting goals that I might have thought were impossible in years past, but realized after everything 2020 threw at me I’m one tough lady and I can do hard things! I can hit those fitness goals I’ve been aiming for, I can start that business I’ve been putting off, and I can be the best wife and mother I can possibly be! 2021 is my year to shine and become the person I’ve always known I could be.
Who is someone you look up to that embraces the “Your Best You” lifestyle and why do you look up to them?
My coach, Tara Laferrara. She is the creator of the TL Method, which everyone needs to check out and join. She’s also a co-owner of a gym, and she hosts an online group for women who need extra support, education, and tools to create a good foundation to living a healthy and happy life. This woman does it all! She’s hilarious, encouraging, supportive, and so many other things. I started following her program over two years ago, and since then have gotten to know her as a coach and a friend. One of the biggest reasons I look up to Tara, is that she encourages everyone to be themselves, and she does the same thing. The overall message Tara shares is to be happy with who you are. You don’t have to follow a specific diet or workout program, just be happy with where you are and what you’re doing for you. I admire how open and honest she is with her messages, and she’s not afraid to tell it like it is, which is something I love to hear.
What self-care rituals do you do to feel your best physically and mentally?
Daily workouts are a must! I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression a few years back, and learned how beneficial exercise is for helping me to feel my best and to keep my symptoms in-check. I make time everyday to move my body and get my endorphins up.
Daily walks with my dogs is also high on my self-care checklist. In March when everything shut down, I started making time for daily walks with my dogs. I enjoyed the fresh air and getting out of my house, and the dogs enjoyed getting in some daily movement too.
Sleep is also very important to me, and I want to make sure it’s quality sleep. I don’t keep any electronics on my nightstand. I place them across my room, so I’m not tempted to stay up late playing on my phone. Instead, I keep a book or two on my nightstand to remind me to get in my daily reading.
What’s your number one advice for people who are struggling with their own wellness journey?
Don’t compare where you are to where anybody else is. We are all on our own journey and it’s important to celebrate where you are. Yesterday might have been a tough day, but the awesome thing is today’s a new day! Everyday we get the opportunity to make it exactly what we want or change the things we didn’t like yesterday. You can start fresh everyday or continue to be the badass you were yesterday! Embrace it and be proud!
What do you love about LANE EIGHT?
Aside from the amazing shoes that you all make, because they are the best workout shoe, I love how inclusive and amazing this company is! I love seeing so many people from different walks of life doing different activities and showing who they are! With Lane Eight there is no “perfect” person, everybody is celebrated!
What do you want to see in LANE EIGHT in the future?
I would love to see more styles of shoes, and crazy-bright colors! Also, workout clothes would be amazing. Either way, can’t wait to see what’s in store.
If you could share one message with the LANE EIGHT community, what would it be?
You are enough! You don’t need to be like anybody else, because you are exactly who you are supposed to be!
First travel destination post-COVID?
This might sound silly, but I live in one of the biggest states and have yet to see most of it! So I want to go on a road trip around Texas and see everything that makes this place amazing!
Name a woman in your life that has helped you become “Your Best You”?
My mom. For as long as I can remember she’s always encouraged me to get back up and keep going. I would be lost without her!
What advice would you give your younger self?
Don’t worry about being like everyone else. Just focus on who you are, what’s important to you, and showing kindness and compassion to others.
Favorite female athlete?
Kathrine Switzer. She was the first female to register and run the Boston Marathon. She fought to change the stereotype and paved the way for other women to run this major race. I definitely view her as an inspiration and hero!
